The Presidency will present its six-month work programme in the area of economic and financial affairs. Creating optimal conditions for sustainable economic growth and prosperity in the Union and a shock-resistant euro area are among the main priorities for the Netherlands presidency.
The Netherlands presidency will focus on making the best use of the Economic and Monetary Union, with particular emphasis on reforms and fiscal consolidation and deepening of the single market.
The presidency intends to continue work on the banking union, a capital markets union, banking structural reform, proposals for fighting tax avoidance and tax evasion and on a number of other legislative files.
The Council will exchange views on the possible wider use of the VAT reverse charge mechanism in the context of combating VAT fraud in the EU.
